Long week, final photography project, and domain change Once again back for another week.  It's coming up to the final few weeks for classes in the semester. As much as I am relieved, it definitely feels bittersweet. This semester has probably been one of my best, both for the art that I have created and the history I have learned. I've really enjoyed working with photography again, as the last solid time I did photography projects such as this was in my first year of university. This semester has really solidified photography as a medium for myself. I've had many conversations about this, actually. I used to want to pursue painting as my focus, but I've never had a painting that I felt 100% happy with. With photography, I've had a lot of pictures that have the success I wish I could get from painting. I do like both for different reasons, but ultimately I think photography fits my style as an artist more. Before my next year in university, I need to choose at least...

Art history talk and photography struggles A decently relaxed week. A lot to do coming up! Monday, I was supposed to go on my first documentary photo trip, but I ended up in the emergency room instead. Nothing serious, but I have a history of strep throat and I wanted to get it dealt with quickly. I no longer think I have strep, just some sort of quick moving cold. It went from a sore throat to a cough to sinus pressure, and finally to a horrible runny nose. I don’t feel particularly sick, but my popping ears and running nose will be the death of me. I am not good at being sick. Luckily for me, this gave me an extra day to hang out with my brother, his wife, and my nieces who were down for a March break visit. Along with this, I had another (somewhat) lucky instance. My Tuesday photography class ended up being cancelled, but I unfortunately didn’t discover this until I was already at the train station, getting on my train. Super unfortunate, but in the end I was able to simply hop on a...

Week in Review - March 9th - 13th, 2026

Hello! First blog post, hopefully not the last :) This week was relaxed as school weeks go for me.  We have two current focuses in photography at the moment. For the first, we took colour film photos with old Holga cameras and finally got them back from lab processing! For those who don't know, the Holga is a plastic toy camera which is famously unpredictable and very prone to light leaks, vignette, and more. It is not like a traditional film camera in any sense. The focus has only four settings, and you have to hold the shutter down continuously to take your image. High risk, high reward. If you like an unpredictable analogue experience, see if you can find a Holga for sale somewhere. Official Holga cameras are no longer being produced, but you can find knockoffs and old models online. Now that we have our film reels back, it's time to scan them in and touch them up in Photoshop. Unfortunately for me, majority of my film didn't show up. Only one of my images is going to ma...
