Long week, final photography project, and domain change

Once again back for another week.

It's coming up to the final few weeks for classes in the semester. As much as I am relieved, it definitely feels bittersweet. This semester has probably been one of my best, both for the art that I have created and the history I have learned. I've really enjoyed working with photography again, as the last solid time I did photography projects such as this was in my first year of university. This semester has really solidified photography as a medium for myself. I've had many conversations about this, actually. I used to want to pursue painting as my focus, but I've never had a painting that I felt 100% happy with. With photography, I've had a lot of pictures that have the success I wish I could get from painting. I do like both for different reasons, but ultimately I think photography fits my style as an artist more. Before my next year in university, I need to choose at least one discipline to go into at a higher level (one from a list of six disciplines - design, drawing, sculpture, print media, painting, or photography). When I go to select my courses, I have to make  the choice between painting and photography to take for a full school year. Though I do feel mixed on painting, the full session course grants you a studio space for the duration of the course, and I have always wanted something like this. For my enjoyment, I think that I will end up taking photography.

The trip down the train line went extremely well! The many people I asked for photographs were very kind and surprisingly receptive to the idea of my project. I did get a few rejections, but that was to be expected. It's definitely a weird ask! I met a multitude of very interesting people. Getting over that initial anxiety towards talking to strangers was difficult, but the time flew by eventually, and I was done before I knew it. I will include some of my favourite answers to my question "if you could say one thing to the world, what would you say?" at the end of my post. Everyone I asked gave such unique and personalized answers. I am currently working on finding a layout for my photo book. It's a bit difficult, seeing as I have a few too many images for a traditional zine style layout. It's a tough thing to figure out, but it will pay off in the long run hopefully. (When I wrote this, I hadn't completed the layout, but I have now! It looks wonderful, and I have sent it in to be printed!) I am excited to see what all my classmates have put together for their final work. I know the friend that took images of me is using one where she put me in a... very strange outfit, for lack of a better description.

As for my domain change, that was not planned. Someone ended up leaving a few nasty comments on my last post, and I want to avoid that in the future. I changed my domain to avoid this specific person, so hopefully I won't have to do so again. This domain, 'Harmonious Hivemind,' is another name I have used before, so I thought it more fitting than my old one.

I will unfortunately be leaving this post short, as I have a lot to work on this week. Since it is the end of the semester, a lot has piled up for me to finish up. I am a master procrastinator, so hopefully the singular day I have left for myself to complete everything will be satisfactory.

Make it a wonderful week. I will be doing the same.
